Fundraising success

With the launch of the nursing program, a new nursing center was needed. The first floor of Old Main was renovated into the state-of-the-heart Bruno and Evelyn Betti Nursing Education Center with learning labs and classrooms, so students can develop and practice their nursing skill before working with patients in the clinical setting. 

In 2020, 91ֱ��’s University celebrated 125 years as an institution of higher learning, committed to empowering students to make a positive difference in their lives and in the lives of others. On Nov. 7, 2020, we honored 91ֱ��’s 125th anniversary, welcomed the new abbot of 91ֱ��’s Abbey, and raised $1.4 million of critical funds for student scholarships.

The Ernsdorff Center is a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art science facility to increase the number of graduates with science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, degrees in our region. It houses 12 research labs, 10 classrooms and instructional labs, a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance lab, instrument lab and dry lab. The building was dedicated on May 9, 2019.

As part of the Engineering Initiative, the Panowicz Foundry is a 17,363-square-foot facility provides laboratories and design space where the University’s engineering and computer science students can apply what they have learned in the classroom to generate, test and evaluate designs, explore possibilities and gain hands-on experience as they work toward their degrees. Its name reflects the generosity of two major donors, University Board of Trustees former Vice Chair A. Richard “Rick” Panowicz and his wife Pam and the E. L. Wiegand Foundation. The building was completed in 2016.

Completed in 2012, Cebula Hall houses 91ֱ��’s engineering labs and features unique collaborative work environments for students to maximize their educational experience. This building, recognized as the highest-rated LEED Platinum project in the United States at the time of construction, incorporates a number of building learning features that exhibit systems relevant to all our engineering programs. This building was the first constructed during the Engineering Initiative.
